Catherine Chan
Senior Director, Design Strategy, Global/Greater China, Marriott International
Catherine Chan is Senior Director of Design Strategy, Global/GC at Marriott International, where she supports the creative and strategic direction of hotel experiences across Asia Pacific and particularly, the Greater China region. With a focus on collaboration and cultural insight, she works closely with teams to bring brand stories to life through thoughtful, purposeful design.
Catherine began her career in Toronto with the renowned studio Yabu Pushelberg, where she was first introduced to the limitless possibilities of hospitality design and the joy of creating spaces that connect with people. That early foundation gave her an appreciation for innovation and storytelling that continues to guide her work today. After returning to Hong Kong, she expanded her experience with AB Concept on luxury and lifestyle projects, and later at Shangri La, where she deepened her understanding of how design and operations come together in real-world settings.
Throughout her career, Catherine has contributed to projects for brands including Shangri La, Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, Marriott, Renaissance, Westin, Aloft, and Fairfield. She feels fortunate to have worked across a wide range of hotels and cultures, learning from each team, each property, and each guest perspective along the way.
At Marriott International, Catherine focuses on building future facing design strategies that are grounded in emotional resonance, cultural awareness, and clarity of purpose. She is passionate about creating experiences that feel intuitive, memorable, and genuinely meaningful.
